Speech Therapy Assessment fees.

  • INITIAL SPEECH AND LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT - $350 + GST 
  • This includes up to one hour assessment time with one of our specialist Speech-Language Therapists. A written assessment summary with recommendations is provided. 

  • ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENTS - $140 + GST PER HOUR 
  • Sometimes clients require more assessments than the inital referral information suggested. When additional testing, report writing, funding applications, observations etc are required over and above our initial assessment charge this will be communicated with the client and charged at our hourly rate. Any additional charges will be advised prior to additional assessment services being provided.

  • SPECIALIST REFERALS AND ASSESSMENTS - $450 + GST
  • We are an exclusive provider of multidisciplinary assessment services that require joint assessments with other specialists including Paediatrican, Neuropsychologist, Educational Psychologist and Occupational Therapist. Specialist assessments maybe be required for communication challenges related to Dyslexia, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and other neurodiversity. 

  • SOCIAL COMMUNICATION ASSESSMENT FOR AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER - $450 + GST

  • CLINICAL EVALUATION OF LANGUAGE FUNDAMENTALS (CELF-5) - $450 + GST

Speech Therapy Session fees.

Speech Therapy professional fees are charged at the whole or part hourly rate of $140.00 + GST. After your initial assessment, your lead Speech Therapist will recommend a session time and frequecy - best suited for effectvie intervention and therapy outcomes.

  • (30 MINUTE) SPEECH THERAPY SESSION + (10 MINUTES PLANNING & PREP)  $93.30 + GST
  • This includes 30 minutes direct time (face-to-face) with your Speeech Therapist PLUS additional 10 minutes indirect time (non-face-to-face) for session planning / preparation / resource development / documentation
  • Additional travel charges may apply for appointments requested outside of the clinic (e.g school / preschool / home)

  • (45 MINUTE) SPEECH THERAPY SESSION + (10 MINUTES PLANNING & PREP)  $128.30 + GST
  • This includes 45 minutes direct time (face-to-face) with your Speeech Therapist PLUS additional 10 minutes indirect time (non-face-to-face) for session planning / preparation / resource development / documentation
  • Additional travel charges may apply for appointments requested outside of the clinic (e.g school / preschool / home)

  • (ONE HOUR) SPEECH THERAPY SESSION + (10 MINUTES PLANNING & PREP)  $163.30 + GST
  • This includes 60 minutes direct time (face-to-face) with your Speeech Therapist PLUS additioanl 10 minutes indirect time (non-face-to-face) for session planning / preparation / resource development / documentation
  • Additional travel charges may apply for appointments requested outside of the clinic (e.g school / preschool / home)

  • PLANNING AND PREPARATION
  • All therapy sessions include billable planning and preparation time. This time is essential to deliver high-quality, individualised therapy and achieve the best outcomes for our clients. It includes session planning, reviewing therapy supports, preparing resources, and completing client-specific administrative tasks. Planning and preparation are required for every session and are included in the session fee

Structured Litearcy Fees

  • DIAGNOSTIC LITERACY ASSESSMENT - $350 + GST 
  • The diagnostic assessment is prerequisite for every new client starting structured literacy with us. This is required regardless of any prior independent assessments that may have been obtained. The infioramtion we gather in our inital assessment provides the baseline information we need about your child's current literacy skills and at what level they would start their structured literacy intervention. We get a baseline measure of phonological awareness skills, alphabet code knowledge, decoding (reading) skills, encoding (spelling) skills, reading accuracy and fluency ready to start structured literacy intervention. 

  • 30-MINUTE LITERACY BOOST® SESSION + (10 MINUTES PLANNING & PREP)  $93.30 + GST

  • 45-MINUTE LITERACY BOOST® SESSION + (10 MINUTES PLANNING & PREP)  $128.30 + GST

  • 60-MINUTE LITERACY BOOST® SESSION + (10 MINUTES PLANNING & PREP)  $163.30 + GST

  • ADDITIONAL TRAVEL CHARGES (see below)

Travel and Mileage 

All therapy sessions that take place outside of the clinic location or the designated central business district will incur a travel charge. This is a contribution towards the travel time and mileage costs incured by the therapist when offering an appointment away from the clinic. Our speech therapists can travel to local preschools, schools, and/or homes within 5km from the nearest clinic location FREE of charge (less than 10km return trip). Therapy sessions that place more than 5km from the clinic location (over 10km return trip from the nearest clinic) will incur a rural travel charge. This is a minimal contribution towards the travel and time costs incurred when offering preschool, school and/or home appointment outside of our CBD clinic locations. 

  • NO TRAVEL CHARGE
  • This includes preschool / school / home visits to locations less than 5km of the nearest clinic location (less than 10km return trip)
  • TOWN TRAVEL CHARGE -  $20 + GST PER SESSION 
  • This includes preschool / school / home visits in town locations 5km to 10km from nearest clinic location (less than 20km return trip)
  • ALL CHRISTCHURCH SUBURBS -  $20 + GST PER SESSION 
  • This includes ALL preschool / school / home visits within CHCH CBD. This charge does not apply to clinic based appointments.
  • RURAL TRAVEL CHARGE - Quote provided on request
  • This includes preschool / school / home visits in locations more than 10km from nearest clinic location (more than 20km return trip). Our therapists are available to travel to preschools / schools / and homes in rural locations. We charge travel time and mileage accordingly. Please request a quote.

Other fees - Indirect Support Activities

Other fees may be charged if there is work required over and above your regular session time. For example, writing a letter, liaison with the school or other health professionals, preparing additional resources or home programmes. It may also include significant communication or events that have been previously discussed and agreed with the client. This list is not exhaustive and will be an ongoing discussion with you and the therapist where required. 

  • IEP / PLANNING MEETING ATTENDANCE ($140 + GST PER HOUR)
  • REPORT WRITING AND LETTERS ($140 + GST PER HOUR)
  • ADDITIONAL HOME / SCHOOL RESOURCE ($140 + GST PER HOUR)
  • MULTIDISCIPLINARY (MDT) MEETING ATTENDANCE ($140 + GST PER HOUR)
  • ALL ADDITIONAL SESSION AND INTERVENTION PLANNING ($140 + GST PER HOUR)

Terms and Conditions

By submiting a referral you are agreeing to the following. We require your acceptance of our terms and conditions at the time we receive your referral and before providing any services. We provide our services to you subject to acceptance of this agreement.  We may amend the terms and conditions of this agreement. We will always inform you of any changes (updated 01 October 2023)

Cancellation Policy

We accept cancellations up to 24 hours before an appointment is scheduled. You must notify us of your cancellation by email, text, or phone. Our contact details are info@giantleaps.nz, Text 027 661 4441, and FREEPHONE 0800 4 SPEECH.

  • NO CHARGE - MORE THAN 24 HOURS NOTICE
  • 50% OF APPOINTMENT FEE - LESS THAN 24 HOURS NOTICE
  • 100% OF APPOINTMENT FEE - NO NOTICE!

At Giant Leaps Speech Company, we prepare for each of our appointments thoroughly. There is a limit to the number of clients we see in a day because of the high level of service we guarantee. If you book an appointment with us and don’t turn up – or if you contact us to cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice, three things can happen...

  • 1.  We lose the time we have spent preparing for your appointment – time we could have spent helping another client. 
  • 2. We don't have enough time to reschedule another client in your appointment time. This reduces the total number of clients we can help that day.
  • 3. Clients on our waitlist have an even longer wait for our service.  
  • OVERDUE ACCOUNT CHARGES- $50 INCURRED AFTER 3 MONTHS
  • Accounts with an outstanding balance of more than three (3) months will incur a $50 monthly overdue administration fee, applied on the 7th day of each month. Reminder statements will be issued on the last day of each month.

  • DEBT COLLECTION - REFERRED AFTER 6 MONTHS
  • Any account that remains outstanding for six (6) months or more may be referred to a third-party debt collection agency. If it becomes necessary for Giant Leaps Limited to take steps to recover an overdue account, all costs and expenses incurred—including taxes, legal fees, and any other related charges—will be payable by the debtor in addition to the overdue amount.

  • PLESE NOTE - BY ENGAGING IN OUR ASSESSMENT, THERAPY AND STRUCTURED LITERACY SERVICES, YOU ARE ACCEPTING AND AGREEING TO THE ABOVE READ TERMS AND CONDITIONS. WE WILL COMMUNICATE ANY CHANGES TO THESE TERMS DIRECTLY WITH YOU.
